REACH Candidate List
The attached image is a table detailing the latest additions to the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). The table categorizes several chemical substances based on their properties, regulatory status, and industrial applications. Here’s a breakdown of the key columns in the table:

1. Substance Information:
- Substance Name (en): The chemical name of the newly identified SVHCs.
- EC Number & CAS Number: Unique identifiers for each substance, essential for regulatory tracking.
2. Regulatory Classification:
- Reason for Inclusion: Specifies why a substance has been classified as SVHC under Article 57 of the REACH Regulation. The reasons include:
- Toxic for reproduction
- Persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT)
- Very persistent, very bioaccumulative (vPvB)
3. Industrial Applications:
- Use from ECHA: Describes where these substances are used, including:
- Lubricants and greases
- Cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals
- Cleaning products, adhesives, coatings, and sealants
- Electrical, electronic, and optical equipment
- Machinery and vehicles
4. Compliance & Action:
- In IMDS? Specifies whether the substance is flagged in the International Material Data System (IMDS), which is widely used in the automotive industry for material compliance.
- On GADSL? Indicates if the substance is on the Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL), which affects automotive manufacturing regulations.
- Action: Indicates whether the substance has been flagged as SVHC or requires no action.
Observations from the Table:
- Some substances, such as 6-I[(C10-C13)-alkyl-(branched, unsaturated)-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl]hexanoic acid, are not flagged in IMDS and require no action.
- Others, like O,O,O-triphenyl phosphorothioate, Octamethyltrisiloxane, Perfluamine, and Reaction mass of triphenylthiophosphate and tertiary butylated phenyl derivatives, are flagged as SVHCs due to their persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic properties.
- Some of these substances have active industrial use, while others have no active registrations.
Significance of the Update:
- Compliance Impact: Companies in automotive, electronics, and chemical industries must assess the presence of these substances in their supply chains.
- Regulatory Actions: Businesses using these substances may need to find safer alternatives, update material declarations, or comply with additional restrictions.
- Environmental & Health Concerns: The flagged SVHCs pose risks due to their toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulative nature, making them critical for regulatory control.
